Dale Andersen sent this message via Iridium satphone on 5 November 2017 at 1:55:43 am EDT:

“Hi Keith: Our small storm continues today and this morning it is quite windy with blowing snow creating near white-out conditions here at Novo and certainly white-out conditions a few kilometers away at the ice-runway. So we will continue to work on our gear, refine plans and catch up on some needed rest. Hopefully we will get a weather window long enough that will allow us to make the traverse inland to Lake Untersee. Cheers, Dale”

Note: “Buran” (Буран) = “snowstorm”.
