“Virtues for the Space Age” by Koji Tachibana, PhD Associate Professor of Philosophy at Chiba University, Japan; International Associate Scholar at Georgetown University Medical Center, USA; Academic Visitor at the Uehiro Oxford Institute of the University of Oxford, UK

Abstract: Humanity is expanding into the cosmos. So we must look beyond technical and economic metrics and ask what kind of ethical norms we must develop to live well in a space society. Surveying the two fields of space ethics, I present the idea of space virtue that lies at the intersection of them. Given that space exploration can transform the existing notion of human excellence, we must investigate “space virtues” to live well in a cosmic society.
