[NASA] On November 2, 2026, at 2 PM Eastern Time, NASA’s Chief Scientist for Astromaterials Curation within the Science Mission Directorate and NASA’s Astromaterials Curator will host a webinar to discuss the contents of the most recent release of the Astromaterials Newsletter.

The Astromaterials Newsletter is a bi-annual publication produced by the Astromaterials Acquisition and Curation Office at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) to inform the sample science community about updates to policies, collections, and available samples. In particular, the Astromaterials Newsletter is the exclusive mechanism for announcing new samples or new sample opportunities available to the community across all of our collections.

The primary aim of the Astromaterials Newsletter is to maximize the scientific return from NASA’s astromaterials collections by improving communication and raising awareness of sample availability within the scientific community. A key part of this effort is providing timely updates about activities in our laboratories and at JSC that may impact the collections or the timing of sample allocations. Most importantly, the newsletter was established to ensure a fair and transparent process for disseminating information about available samples across all collections. The astromaterials community is a cornerstone of our science mission, and effective stewardship requires regular, two-way communication. We’re looking forward to this inaugural conversation with the astromaterials community.
