BBC’s Frozen Planet II Features Astrobiology Research At Lake Untersee, Antarctica
According to the video: “The Frozen Planet II team drilled into the ice of Lake Untersee to find some of the world’s oldest living fossils. But with freezing waters, and treacherous storms ahead, this was no easy mission.”
This footage was shot at the research location at Lake Untersee, Antarctica where Astrobiologist Dale Andersen’s multi-year research activities have looked at the microbial mats and other life forms found in this remote ice-covered lake.
For more information on the ongoing research by Dale and his team at Lake Untersee check out this multi-year series of field reports we’ve been featuring.
