M.A.R.S. At Sunset on Axel Heiberg – Dale Andersen

Dale Andersen: One of the more delightful attributes of working in the high arctic, and in a region with mountains and glaciers is watching the scenery under a variety of lighting conditions.

At this point, the sun is still low in the sky. Each day it gets a little higher and stays a bit longer. Soon we will have bright daylight 24/7 until the end of summer. But right now we are able to enjoy sunsets and the warm sun paints the local snow-capped mountains in alpenglow.

This was the scene as I returned to M.A.R.S. last night. It is a real privilege to be able to work in such beautiful places!
