Here’s the first update:

Southbound: After a 10-day wait in Cape Town, South Africa due to blizzard conditions in Antarctica, the ice runway at Schirmacher Oasis is finally clear of the drifting snow that had accumulated during the storm.

Early tomorrow morning I set off for my 27th field season on the icy continent to continue our investigations of Lake Untersee in the mountains of Queen Maud Land. Here’s to more discoveries both above and below the ice!
