Astrobiology Spectral Database (ASD) Virtual Workshop

Wednesday, July 23rd from 10AM – 4PM CT
Are you interested in organics for the origin of life, returned samples, life detection, or machine learning? Do you have an interest in or experience with database development? If so, consider joining the virtual Astrobiology Spectral Database (ASD) Workshop scheduled for July 23, 2025!
WORKSHOP REGISTRATION
Registration fees are not being collected for this workshop, but registration is required.
The ASD is a NASA-funded project to build a database for mass spectrometry and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data of abiotic experiments and extraterrestrial material extracts.
Goals for this virtual workshop include:
- Workshop data reporting standards for ASD
- Discuss how the ASD can address community needs
- Brainstorm mechanisms for ensuring community buy-in and the longevity of the ASD
- Receive feedback on upcoming plans for ASD development
Purpose and Scope
The workshop will feature presentations on the development of data infrastructures within and outside the field, highlighting key lessons from established metabolomics and chemistry databases.
Help make the ASD your primary resource by participating in a feedback survey designed to identify community needs, concerns, and insights regarding planned features and metadata requirements. The survey takes approximately ten minutes to complete, and most questions are optional.
