SUMMARY:From Gaia to GaiaNIR: Science from Precision Astrometry Across the Universe and Beyond the Extinction Barrier
DESCRIPTION:This conference celebrates the achievements of the MWGaiaDN Doctoral Network\, which features PhD projects focused on the science that can be extracted from Gaia DR3 and Gaia DR4. Topics covered are the Milky Way as a galaxy\, stars and planets\, and Active Galactic Nuclei in the context of reference frames. MWGaiaDN projects also look towards the future\, by researching the challenges of sub-microarcsecond astrometry and investigating the technical challenges that will have to be overcome to realize the potential follow-up mission to Gaia\, GaiaNIR \nThe timing of this conference\, just after the release of Gaia DR4\, allows for a look back at the science results achieved with Gaia DR3 and to look ahead at the grand challenges that Gaia DR4 and DR5 offer that the scientific community can address through collaborative projects. \nLooking further ahead\, the next step will be to map the regions of the Milky Way and the universe inaccessible by Gaia\, which requires a deeper survey able to penetrate the dust to unveil the hidden regions. Future astrometry missions in the infrared will be discussed\, with JASMINE mapping the Milky Way’s nuclear region and GaiaNIR vastly expanding Gaia’s census of the Milky Way to a dense sampling of phase space over the full extent of the Milky Way’s disk. The latest mission updates will be presented and synergies with other missions and surveys will be explored.

SUMMARY:International Winter School on Origins of Life WISOL 27
DESCRIPTION:Introduction \n\nHow Life began on Earth? This intriguing question is of capital importance for modern science. From the most recent exploratory missions to ancient philosophy\, this fascinating question is puzzling humankind from ancient times. \nUniversity of Pavia\, as a growing research institute\, offers you a unique platform to get in touch with top scientists in the field and learn most advanced models with experimental techniques used in prebiotic investigations. \nWith multidisciplinarity as a trademark\, WISOL is aimed at chemists\, physicists\, biologists\, geologists\, planetary scientists\, astrobiologists\, astronomers and scholars for fruitfully building a knowledge exchange network and a cradle for future collaborations. \nWISOL is an intensive international school and it is the first school on origins of life studies. \nThanks to the success of the previous editions\, we are now happy to announce the fourth edition of the school. \nThe school comprises laboratory activities on data treatment and computer simulations with the most advanced open-source software. \nAttendees will have the opportunity to present their work in flash communications that will be held as part of the main events. \nOrganization – 30 hours of activities in 5 days. Activities includes lessons\, seminars\, workshops and round tables. Students are directly involved in activities (a personal laptop is highly recommended) \nInvited speakers \nProf. Nadia Balucani (University of Perugia\, Italy)\nProf. Dieter Braun (LMU Munich)\nProf. Moran Frenkel-Pinter (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)\nProf.  Ramanarayanan Krishnamurthy (Scripps University\, USA)\nProf. Raffaele Saladino (University of Tuscia\, Italy)\nProf. Piero Ugliengo (University of Turin\, Italy) \nTo whom it is addressed – The school is open to researchers\, Master and PhD students.\nSchool will give 6 credits (CFU) for PhD students and certificate of attendance for all the participants.\nVenue – Department of Chemistry\, University of Pavia (Viale Taramelli\, 12\, 27100 Pavia) \n\nVisa Requirements \nDepending on your citizenship\, participants might need a visa to enter Italy.\nKindly visit the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy at\nhttps://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en\nHowever\, if you are in the need of Acceptance Letter\, WISOL secretariat is helpful. Acceptance Letter may be included in the visa application.\nIt is each participant’s responsibility to obtain a Visa to enter Italy. \nHow To Reach Pavia\n \nClick here to open the page \n\nSubscription and fees\nThe cost of the school will be 500 euros. This will include lunch breaks and coffee breaks for the whole period of the school.\nDeadline for subscription is December 2026.\nA link for the payment will be provided soon.\nStudents should make their own arrangements for accommodation (see below).\n\nAccommodations\nClick here to see suggested accommodations.
