SUMMARY:Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon) 2026
DESCRIPTION:5 September update – Program\, speakers\, social media etc. \nAstrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon26) \nhttps://astrobiology.com/2026/09/04/astrobiology-graduate-conference-abgradcon26-update/ \n——-\nThe Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon) is an annual\, student-led conference to highlight and promote the scientific research of early career astrobiologists.  Attendees of this conference are graduate students and post-doctoral researchers which creates a more relaxed atmosphere for scientific discussions and networking. The conference will be held at the University of Arizona this year from September 14-18th. Abstract submissions have already closed for this year.

SUMMARY:LIFE NASA RCN Seminar Series: Cobamide biosynthesis in the last universal common ancestor?
DESCRIPTION:Time: September 15th\, 8 AM PDT/11 AM EDT \nJOIN THE WEBINAR VIA ZOOM \nVal Karavaeva is a PhD student at the Genome Evolution and Ecology Group (GEEG) at the University of Vienna. Their work concerns microbial bioenergetics\, with a focus on evolution of cofactor biosynthesis enzymes\, in particular tetrapyrroles\, such as cobalamin (vitamin B12) and heme. Val is involved in several origins-of-life and astrobiology initiatives\, being a member of NASA LIFE RCN Early-Career Committee\, serving on the executive board of OoLEN (Origin of Life Early-Career Network)\, and collaborating with AbGradE (Astrobiology Graduates in Europe). \nTo learn more about the LIFE: Early Cells to Multicellularity Research Coordination Network and how you can join\, visit the official website.

SUMMARY:PCE3 Seminar: Directed evolution of RNA for self-replication
DESCRIPTION:Edoardo Gianni\nInvestigator Scientist\nMRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology\n“Directed evolution of RNA for self-replication” \nTuesday\, Sept 15th 12 p.m. EDT/9 a.m. PDT\nMore information & registration:\nhttps://www.prebioticchem.org/seminar-series-signup \nEdoardo Gianni is an Investigator Scientist at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge\, UK. He is interested in building minimal chemical systems that can replicate themselves and evolve in order to understand how this may have occurred spontaneously on the early earth. To do so\, he uses directed evolution to reveal new function in large libraries of biomolecules\, with a focus on RNA as the driver of self-replication and carrier of heritable information. Edoardo obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge and a BSc from University College London. \nSpecial PCE3 Introduction by Karyn Rogers\, PCE3 Co-Lead\, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
