NASA SMD Issues New Space Biology Funding Opportunity
NASA’s Science Mission Directorate announces a grant funding opportunity for research emphases on Precision Health and Space Crops. Step 1 proposals are due February 4, 2025.
Precision Health – investigators may propose to use any non-primate animal model system, and any appropriate cell/tissue culture/ microphysiological system/ organoid or microbial models, that are supported by the chosen platform.
Space Crops – applicants may propose to use any plant model system, and when appropriate, any microbial or plant and microbial model systems that are supported by the chosen platform.
This opportunity will include five different Project Types: Research Investigations, Early Career Research Investigations, New NASA Investigators, GeneLab Analytical Investigations, and Tissue Sharing Investigations.
ROSES-2024 Amendment 85 releases final text and due dates for E.9 Space Biology: Research Studies, that was previously released as draft. Plant Studies and Animal Studies will not be solicited separately; what was to have been solicited in those opportunities has been incorporated into E.9 Space Biology: Research Studies. Step-1 proposals are due February 4, 2025, and Step-2 proposals are due May 6, 2025.
A pre-proposerâs townhall for applicants interested in submitting a proposal to this program element will be held virtually on January 22, 2025, at 3 pm Eastern Time connect information will appear on the NSPIRES page for this program element under “Other Documents.”
