Everest Update 7 April: Scott Parazynski: Everest Base Camp: Settling In
Comms Tent
Keith Cowing

Days 17/April 7, 2009 (Tuesday)

Quick note here in the comm. tent at 8pm local. Fingers are cold, typing is sloppy. I organized my technical and summit gear today, met with Danuru (my SuperSherpa sidekick this year), and made plans for tomorrow’s trip to Pumor Ri Camp I (19,100′) and Kala Pattar (18,500′).

Aiming for speed, relatively speaking, and efficiency as my body adjusts to the higher altitudes. There’s 2-3 inches of snow on the ground, so we’ll have to be careful on the steep terrain, but it’s ground I’ve been on several times before. Kamen and Petia from Bulgaria may join me — very nice couple from Sophia who share my affliction for the high mountains.

Will be saying goodbye to some South African friends tomorrow, and a larger group the day after. Many laughs with this group!

Warm regards to all,
Scott
