Return to Everest 2009 Update: Scott Parazynski Is On His Way To Nepal

Keith Cowing: This morning Scott and I did our last coordination via iChat making sure his laptop, SPOT Satellite Personal Tracker, and other gear were all in working order. We also coordinated our satellite telephone and website maintenance plans. Scott departs Houston today (Sunday, 22 March) at 5:30 pm CDT for Frankfurt where he grabs a flight to Doha, Qatar and from there he gets on a flight to Kathmandu. Scott arrives in Nepal around noon on 24 March. He is set to begin his trek to Everest Base Camp with the IMG Team on 26 March and is scheduled to arrive there on 6 April.

This coming week I have my own packing to do, gear to check, another laptop to outfit, and some media planning telecons with people in the U.S. and Kathmandu to participate in. I depart the U.S. on 12 April and will begin my trek on 16 April. Along my trek in to Base Camp I will meet up with the NASA Trek Team in Lobuche on 25 April. We will all arrive at Everest Base Camp on 27 April. The NASA Trek team will stay at Base Camp for the day and then begin to head back. I will stay at Base Camp for the next month or so (until Scott summits). Scott and I expect to be back the U.S. around 1 June. You can check all of our itineraries here.
